In this 30 hour course/training, we will cover up to a sixth of the totality of the program of the C1 level listed below.
Remember that: the suggested number of hours to cover the C1 advanced level is a minimum of 180 hours. Students might cover each level in more or less hours than this suggested number by Instituto Cervantes depending on different factors.

The most recognized tests that prove Spanish competence and locate students' level are the DELE and SIELE exams.

Students can split the coverage of these hours in as many courses they wish and the school, teacher, method and pace that works best for them.
Goals

The goal of the C1 level is to transition from independence to proficiency. In order to To achieve this goal, we will need to work on adjusting and adding the last details.

The adjustments consist on correcting small mistakes that separate our speech from that of native speakers and getting rid of vices while we integrate and mechanize complex forms that we learnt in the previous B2 level.

The additions will consist on expanding our vocabulary, both in the area of the everyday language and in the work, academic, or literary area. We will also add up and mechanize the last and most complex forms and uses of modes and tenses.

In terms of communicative functions and grammar:
Communicative functions goals of the whole C1 level
  • Natural use of the non-official generalized language of the Spanish speaking world.

  • Natural use of the non-official generalized language of the region of interest.

  • Knowledge of universal slang, sayings and popular expressions.

  • Introduction to the academic argot in the field of interest, or to the argot related to work and/or literary language.

  • Introduction to vocabulary and resources for discussion and argumentation of hypothesis or theories.

  • Introduction to production of coherent detailed text.

  • Overview of the cultural expressions of the most representative regions of the Spanish speaking world.

Grammar goals of the whole C1 level
  • Present subjunctive

  • Imperfect subjunctive

  • Present perfect subjunctive.

  • Conditional

  • Introduction to past perfect subjunctive.

  • Imperative.

  • Combination of direct object, indirect object, reflexive and impersonal pronouns.

  • Constructions with relative pronouns, adjectives and adverbs.

Special note for C1 and C2 students. Good job!

The more we delve into the use and the study of a language, the more flexible the learning framework becomes: the communicative functions become more comprehensive and less concrete and the grammar rules of the last additions become more defuse. This is only good! This means we are at the advanced and mastery levels where language becomes more complex even for native speakers. At this level, it is important to be able to adapt the course of the classes and the whole course to the accidents we bump into and turn them into a part of our studies.
